Oxford's Makerspace

What is TinderBox?

TinderBox is a subscription-based maker space located in Oxford, offering a creative haven for entrepreneurs, hobbyists, and innovators. Our space is equipped with a wide range of advanced tools and machinery, including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, electronics, microscopes, and more—equipment that is often too costly or impractical to own at home. Much like a gym membership, our members have 24/7 access to these resources, allowing them to work on their projects whenever inspiration strikes. But TinderBox is more than just a workshop; it’s a thriving community where like-minded individuals can collaborate, share ideas, and turn their visions into reality.

Who Are We For?

TinderBox is designed for a diverse group of creators, from entrepreneurs developing the next big product to hobbyists working on personal projects. Whether you're an experienced maker or just starting out, TinderBox provides the tools and environment you need to succeed. We offer a platform where people can experiment, learn, and grow, regardless of their skill level. While our primary focus is on entrepreneurs and hobbyists, we also plan to extend our reach to students in the future, providing them with a practical space to learn and apply hands-on skills outside the traditional classroom. Additionally, we run open workshops and community events to engage and inspire the broader public, encouraging everyone to explore the world of making.

What is Our Goal?

Our goal at TinderBox is to democratize access to high-end maker tools and foster a culture of creativity and innovation in Oxford. By lowering the barriers to entry, we make DIY projects and entrepreneurial ventures more accessible, empowering individuals to bring their ideas to life. We aim to build a vibrant, collaborative community where members don’t just come for the equipment but stay for the people and the shared experiences. Through workshops, events, and an active online presence, we encourage collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and continuous learning. Financially, we strive to maintain a sustainable model, with initial funding secured through sponsorships and donations and ongoing operations supported by memberships. Ultimately, TinderBox seeks to be a cornerstone of creativity in Oxford, inspiring practical thinking and innovation in all who walk through our doors.
